Special edition: Prime Day deals
Hey folks,
I hope you don’t mind the off-schedule email, but with Amazon Prime Day happening today and tomorrow, I thought to send out a quick message highlighting the best streaming TV deals I’ve found. Let’s get to it:
Amazon Fire TV
You can also get the Fire TV Stick Lite for $12, but I’d strongly suggest spending the extra $5 for the regular Stick, whose remote has TV volume and power controls. Likewise, the Fire TV Stick 4K is on sale for $25, but I’d opt for the Max’s superior speed for $10 more.
Roku
- Roku Express 4K+ for $25
- Streaming Stick 4K for $30
- Streambar for $90 (or $80 refurbished)
- Streambar Pro for $149.
The Roku Express is also on sale for $18, but its remote’s lack of TV and voice controls makes it pretty undesirable unless you’re using a separate universal remote. The Roku Ultra is also on sale for $80, but that’s a pretty standard deal, and I’d hold out for a better price if you can. Consult my Roku buying guide and flowchart for more details.
Apple TV
The Apple TV 4K has hit a record low price of $109. It’s by far the best deal I’ve seen on a streaming box that normally sells for $180. Don’t hesitate on this one if you want a super-fast streaming device with an ad-free menu system and loads of neat features.
Nvidia Shield TV
The Nvidia Shield TV Pro has hit a record low of $170, down from the usual $200. This is a great streaming box for power users, with a neat 4K upscaling feature, a powerful processor, and two USB ports for game controllers, external storage, or other accessories.
Streaming deals
- Buy a $100 Netflix gift card, get a $15 Best Buy gift card.
- A wide range of Prime Video Channels are on sale for $1 per month for two months.
Thanks for reading!
I’ll still have a regular issue of Cord Cutter Weekly out on Friday, though I suspect there won’t be many deals to speak of in the aftermath of Prime Day. Catch you then! – Jared
