Hey folks! As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, Cord Cutter Weekly is on vacation until next week, and will return to its usual publishing schedule on Friday. In the meantime, let’s round up some stories from the past few months in case you missed them, clip show style.
Live TV streaming reviews: If you’re looking for a bundle of streaming channels to replace your cable or satellite TV package, I’ve finished updating our reviews over at TechHive:
- YouTube TV review
- Hulu + Live TV review
- FuboTV review
- DirecTV Stream review
- Sling TV review
- Philo review
- Frndly TV review
Want to compare the channel lineups for each of these services? Check out The Streamable’s Matchmaker tool, Suppose.tv, and MyBundle.tv. All of them allow you to plug in the channels you care about and get a list of streaming services that match. (Each tool has its strengths and weaknesses, so I suggest giving them all a look.)
Keep in mind that replacing your cable bundle with a streaming equivalent is not the only way to cut the cord. With live TV streaming services becoming ever-more expensive, I’ve written a guide to getting rid of them.
Also, while this is not a recent article, my streaming DVR explainer is the one link I end up sharing the most with new readers. DVR tends to be a big question mark for prospective cord cutters, and this article tries to answer the most commonly-asked questions.

Full disclosure: I wrote this newsletter a couple of weeks ago. My hope is that future Jared is fully relaxed and recharged, and that nothing super important transpired in the cord cutting realm during his vacation. Either way, we’ll play catch-up next Friday.
Until then,
Jared
